Practical Azure administrator cert. The closest equivalent to AWS SysOps in the Microsoft world. Pursue if: Your employer is Microsoft-leaning; You want production-shaped Azure depth. Avoid if: You only target AWS / GCP shops.
In context
This cert in isolation tells you very little. Here is where it actually sits. The pathways that use it, and the roles it realistically supports.
AZ-104 is the cert to take if your current or target employer runs on Microsoft, and that's most of UK enterprise, public sector, and a large chunk of mid-market everywhere. It's a more practical exam than the AWS SAA equivalent, and the Microsoft ecosystem rewards people who can actually administer Azure rather than just talk about it. The catch: AZ-104 is much less portable across employers than AWS certs are. Take it when you have a specific Azure-shaped target. If you don't, AWS SAA is the safer first cloud cert because more employers recognise it on a CV.
