  • Sysadmins with three plus years of routing and switching reality. The cert lags the experience.

Common mistake

Stacking Net+ then Sec+ then A+ as a substitute for touching real kit. The CompTIA-stack-without-lab pattern. Recruiters spot the pattern immediately and treat it as evidence the candidate has studied rather than worked.

Recruiter signal, not marketing

What it actually does

A first credible network line on a CV bound for service desk, NOC tier 1 or MSP work. It does not replace a CCNA on enterprise network shortlists, and it does not unlock cloud networking interviews.

Network+ is a strange one. Nobody hires you for having it, but most people in IT benefit from the knowledge regardless of which direction they later head. Treat it as a study scaffold rather than a credential. If you're aiming at networking, CCNA is the cert that actually opens doors. Network+ is the warm-up. If you're aiming at security or cloud, the topics in Network+ keep showing up in interviews for the rest of your career, so the study time is well spent even if you never list the cert prominently on your CV.
